MARIETTA (GEORGIA): A small group of homeless sex offenders have set up camp in densely wooded area behind a suburban Atlanta office park, directed there by probation officers who say it’s a place of last resort for those with nowhere else to go.

The nine sex offenders live in tents surrounding a makeshift fire pit in the trees behind a towering “no trespassing” sign, waiting out their probation sentences as they face numerous living restrictions under one of the nation’s toughest sex offender policies.

“It’s kind of like a mind-game, it’s like ‘Survivor,’” said William Hawkins, a 34-year-old who said he was directed to the campsite two weeks ago after being released from prison for violating probation for failing to register as a sex offender in Georgia.

The muddy camp on the outskirts of prosperous Cobb County is an unintended consequence of Georgia’s sex offender law, which bans the state’s 16,000 sex offenders from living, working or loitering within 1,000 feet of schools, churches, parks and other spots where children gather.

It’s not the only place in Cobb County where offenders can live — there are hundreds of other sex offenders throughout the county living in compliance with the law. But Ahmed Holt, manager of the state’s sex offender administration unit, calls the camp a “last resort” for homeless offenders who can’t find another place to live that complies with the law.

He said probation officers direct them to the outpost if other options fail, such as transferring to another county or state or sending them to a relative’s place that meets the requirements. Critics say it’s an example of how laws designed to keep Georgia’s children out of harm’s way create a hazard where penniless sex offenders live largely unsupervised at the government’s urging.

Need help downloading from Itunes to Ipod?

My neighbour bought an Ipod – neither one of us understanding how it worked (yes, we are old!). We were astounded that the Ipod came with only minimalist instructions, therefore I resorted to search engines to find out how to get her music across from Windows Media player (which we did – took forever), and in the process I had clicked on automatic sync. Thus, once music was all in Itunes, it downloaded into the Ipod – well, nearly. Only half transferred, and an error message came up indicating something. As my neighbour shut down the computer before I saw the actual message, she said: "It was something like, ‘Error, couldn’t download all.’" Can anyone out there make sense of this, guess what the error message actually said, and also how to go back and get the rest of her music out of Itunes into her Ipod? Many thanks – but please, make the explanation very, very simple!

Transferring photos from old mobile to new – urgent problem!?

I have some really important photos on my old phone (Siemens SF65) which have been saved to the phone memory. I can’t find a way of transferring them, or texts, to my sim so I can have them on my new phone (Sony Ericsson Cybershot). My old phone is on its last legs with about 5mins of battery left before it dies for good. I bought a new battery but the phone wont charge any more so I’ve got 5mins of phone time to get this right!
I want to save photos, and preferably some texts, onto my new phone, or onto my computer as a last resort. My old phone is refusing to send pics via MMS to my sim in the new phone and I tried IRDA to my new phone and that failed. The only other option is send my email but I can’t work out what to put in for the server etc so I’m discounting that for now. I can’t plug in my old phone to the computer and download the pics because although I have the cable, the free software to operate it is no longer online. My old phone contains the last photos of me with my Mum before she died recently and they’re the only copies so very special to me. Please help if you’re a genius techie before my phone dies for good and they’re lost.

iPhone 3g 3.0…big problems…any help!?

A frond of mine has the iPhone 3g and like everyone eagerly updated to the 3.0 software, but now as well as not being able to send picture messages(the feature she most wanted) she also can’t use the Internet, facebook or the email server unless she’s connected to wifi… So basically all data transfer thru the network has stopped! She’s tried reseting her phone a few times and then tried restoring thru iTunes and that did nothing but delete all her messages and contacts! Anyone got any suggestions before she resorts to throwing it out the window? Lol!

My Q? was 4 move of mail from Yahoo to AOL. Answers r in YAHOO mail which I cant access. aisbyjfw@AOL.co.uk?

My Yahoo mail is dead msg reads "Connection was reset as page was loading". Professional help has failed to solve the problem. Have resorted to joining AOL and now want to transfer my emails and address book from Yahoo to AOL (aisbyjfw@AOL.co.uk). The question was HOW? Home page tells me that there are answers are in my Yahoo Mail Box that I cant get access.

im nearly 31 and ive always been like this, growing up i was smothered and over protected by my mother.

if i was being bullied or teased at secondary school, i would quickly lose it, become upset and get aggressive or lash out, resort to violence , even growing up as a kid.

i lost alot of self esteem, and throughout life, ive found ive never been able to toughen up or get a good outer shield.

ive always lost it, become upset , got aggressive, defencive, threatened them etc.

when i was being teased at secondary school growing up, my mum always took me out of that school, she would go to the school, be rate and hurl abuse and teachers for their ineptitude and mishandling of the situation and my care , then she would let me have months off school, get me my favourite toys, favourite food, spoil and treat me..

so in-effect i learnt that i never had to face tough times from a cruel society, but instead i could run off and be taken care of.

i went to a roman catholic primary school st teresa where i had lots of friends and was happy but then i went to a completely different secondary school because the secondary modern i was going to be sent to shut down.

i ended up being transferred to an inner city multicultural school with troubled kids that was a great shock for me, suddenly having to interact with troubled rough black kids i found truly awful..

i was teased alot lost contact with my old friends from the roman catholic school, and found it difficult to make friends or mix with the ‘ different ‘ other kids.

so i missed out on schooling because my mummy kept me off because she didnt approve i go there to a bas trd dump of a school.

since then ive suffered an unfortunate life from my spoiled upbringing, i dropped out of school, rebelled and left home which i always regret now.

im neatly 31 and live in a one bedroom apartment on disability, i have ptsd , and a personality disorder – im waiting for the treatment from the health services which im going along with and doing well at.

ive made a lot of progress even though ive suffered terrible things all through early adulthood.

i very much still have an aggression problem, even though i dont have aggressive outbursts anymore , due to childhood taunts and bullying.

i get very sensitive to people words and opinions, find things difficult to brush off and always end up seeking a confrontation .

how can i learn new ways to overcome my sensitivity to harsh words, opinions , criticism, people language and opinions ?

without wanting to lose it with people and damage them ?

Trek SpeedTrap Computer Too Expensive?

I have recently bought a Trek 1.5 which is SpeedTrap compatible. The SpeedTrap itself is only around £15 but the computer to go with it ranges from £120 to £170. I think this is a little steep so was wondering whether someone either knew how to transfer the components from for example a Cateye computer or whether it could be synchronised with a different, cheaper computer. I would rather not have to resort to a sender attached to the fork is possible. Many thanks. Domenico.
I already know what John M Bike has said, I was wondering whether it's possible for anyone to change the circuitboareds from one to another or something like that?

Honeymoon? Need help!?

After a holiday in Barbados last year with the family (me and my partner, brothers and mum and dad), my parents filled in a questionnaire and won a free week back to the resort all inclusive. We went with them and loved it.
They have managed to transfer it into our names if we want it for our honeymoon where we can add on extra days etc…
My fiance said he would like to go somewhere different to make it special but as we are paying for some of the wedding and building a house, I think we would be better taking the barbados trip.
What do you think??

Itunes? Cannot import CD’s to itunes!?

Please help – had this problem ages & I've exhausted the forum on apple. I put cd in – it appears to be importing really quickly – the duration of the songs appears as 789… or not available & no songs play at all they just skip to the next available. all purchased songs play. the cd's will import to wmp. the last resort is reinstalling itunes – if no-one can help does anyone know where to find an apple store & could they fix problem without reinstalling?

Also noticed purchased songs from apple wont transfer to wmp in mp4 format. why is this?

Is Yahoo email error free?

I would like your opinion and comments on Yahoo email use. When transferring an email from incoming mail to my folders sent from Hansard, Houses of Parliament: text went missing! Do other people experience errors like this?

When I worked for Solicitors they only used computers as a last resort and for lengthy repetitive documents only. When dealing with Unemployment Benefit Offices they very rarely send email replies and staff do not have easy access to this facility.

Do businesses using email have complaints about accuracy of email sent/received? Is this the future or correspondences as I much prefer the post for accuracy. However I do like the immediacy of email with all its faults. Plus communications cannot get wet!
